Recently, USCIS announced that the initial registration period for the fiscal year 2024 H-1B cap will be opening at noon Eastern time on March 1st and will remain open through noon Eastern time on March 17th, 2023. This is an important deadline to bear in mind for prospective petitioners and representatives. If anyone misses this deadline, they likely will not qualify. Please continue reading and reach out to the seasoned employment green card lawyers here at the Lightman Law Firm to learn more about this deadline and how our firm can help get your papers in order and file timely. Here are some of the questions you may have:
How do I register for an H-1B?
To register for an H-1B visa as a cap-subject petitioner, you will have to use a myUSCIS online account. There will be a $10 H-1B registration fee for each registration submitted on behalf of a beneficiary. If you are a petitioner looking to submit your own registration, you will have to use a registrant account. You may create a new registrant account on February 21st at noon Eastern time. It is also important to note that representatives and registrants are required to wait until March 1st to enter beneficiary information and submit registrations.
Can I register more than one beneficiary at a time?
Yes, petitioners or their representatives are allowed to submit registrations for multiple beneficiaries in a single online session.
How does USCIS determine who gets an H-1B visa?
It is important to note that simply petitioning for an H-1B visa in and of itself is not a guarantee that a person will get one. If USCIS receives enough registrations by March 17th, they will select registrations by random and notify users via their online accounts. That said, if USCIS does not reach the cap of all available registrations, they will select all registrations that were properly submitted during the initial registration period.
When will I know if I have been selected?
USCIS is set to notify all account holders whether they qualify by March 31st.
