Making An InfoPass Appiointment

There may come a time where you, as a nonimmigrant awaiting green card approval in the United States, will need to temporarily leave the United States to tend to an emergency situation abroad prior to the approval of your advance parole travel authorization.

In such cases, you will want to apply for “emergency” advance parole with your local United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office after submitting your green card application. Possessing an approved advance parole document, providing everything else is in order, will allow you to leave the United States without abandoning your green card application and re-enter without difficulty. Failure to obtain advance parole prior to leaving the United States will result in the abandonment and subsequent denial of your green card application, unless you hold a valid H-1B or L-1 visa, and in difficulty re-entering the United States.

To obtain emergency advance parole, you will need to request an in-person appointment at your local USCIS office, known as an “InfoPass Appointment”. You can request this InfoPass Appointment by contacting the USCIS Contact center at 800-375-5283 or via their online form.

Below are step-by-step guides on how you can try to schedule an Emergency Advance Parole InfoPass Appointment and the items you will need to present at your appointment.
